Process Facilities Engineering Design

The GMP Group Process Team is able to provide a comprehensive range of experience and services to support the design of pharmaceutical facilities, from manufacturing process analysis and design, through strategic master planning, conceptual design and preliminary engineering. Providing all necessary process technical information and support, to enable design disciplines to undertake focused project design work.

The Process team is responsible for fully defining the manufacturing process in the form of Process and Engineering Flow Diagrams describing the required process operation for both present and future manufacturing operations, together with equipment and systems specifications, materials movement, and logistics of operation.

This work will cover both the manufacturing process, utility systems and off-site services supporting the process operation, A key manufacturing lead process engineer would be appointed to the project. He would have detailed involvement throughout the conceptual design stages of the project, becoming a consultant to detailed design stages, providing assistance to other disciplines to ensure that the technical integrity of the design is maintained. We also support understanding of process specifications, selection of process equipment, and incorporating design developments and vendor information.

Additional specialist process engineers would also be drawn into the team when required to support areas of utilities, water and effluent treatment, acid gas removal processes, thermal rating of heat exchangers, distillation, environmental engineering and process control system design.

Facility and Engineering Design:

The Building Design Team provides a fully integrated facility design and architectural service.

Where the building is an integral part of the process, a lead architect is assigned to the project to take responsibility for facility design to best serve the manufacturing process, in terms of layout of manufacturing areas, changing, people and material flows and other required building services to support manufacturing operations.

The architect will understand both requirements of the process and building services, which will enable integrated conceptual layout to be developed. HVAC and other building services and architectural details will be developed as part of the building design. As with other Teams, full use is made of CAD and CAE packages.

The co-ordination of the equipment in terms of location within the building and the connection of all interfaces with the building are a critical part of the project. GMP

Group is fully aware of the requirements of all types of pharmaceutical equipment and the need to coordinate the efforts of the design and construction team, the equipment supplier and the validation team, to successfully integrate the equipment into the facility.
