A turnkey project, for the refurbishment of an existing nuclear device production facility. GMPG scope included design, procurement, and fit out of
- A new Cleanroom, (Walls, ceilings, Doors, windows and Epoxy Floors)
- HVAC,
- BMS,
- MPHW,
- Chilled Water,
- Electrical & Lighting Systems.

Acting as Principle Contractor/Consultant the client required a new approach to the environmental conditions that their nuclear grade product was manufactured in.
As part of the brief The GMP Group prepared a co-ordinated project plan that linked all of the activities to the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and validation of the facility.
Major considerations during design and construction of the cleanroom were to remove the risk of loose articles contaminating the nuclear process area. This was achieved by designing out and concealing all fixings on all panels, doors, fixtures and fittings.
GMPG design included the following considerations
- Cleanroom areas to be up to ISO 14644 Standard 8
- Work with cleanroom supplier R&D Teams to ensure client specific expectations were met.
- Replace 10mx10m rapid roller doors with cleanroom equivalents
- Re-design personnel areas including, changing rooms and supervisor areas
- Loose Article Control to be factored into all general fixtures and fittings
- A large rolling bridge crane within the environment
- The use of a continuous panel system up to crane height (15 metres)
- Design and replace HVAC Systems to meet environmental requirements
- Design, specify, procure and install new Building Management System (BMS) for the control of temperature, humidity and room pressures.

- Validation of the environment including all HVAC Systems and
- Co-ordination with client’s production team and crane refurbishment contractor.
- Production of all documentation including Operations Manuals, Validation Documents and SOP’s for change in production methods.
